Flyers captain Giroux in for Wednesday
Nov 20, 2014 - 1:21 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - In a stunning last-minute addition, Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux will, in fact, suit up for Wednesday's rivalry night contest against the New York Rangers despite a lower-body injury.Giroux apparently suffered the injury at practice on Monday, and was seen on Tuesday in a walking boot and crutches.
The issue was serious enough that the team captain was unable to make a season-ticket holder autograph session two days ago. However, the club included all of Giroux's equipment on the train up to Manhattan on Wednesday, and head coach Craig Berube stated hours before puck drop that if he felt good enough in warmups, Giroux would play.
Giroux ended up skating on the top line for the first shift of the contest.
The 26-year-old Quebec native's status is still unknown for Thursday's home contest against the Minnesota Wild.
