Panthers recall G Ellis

Nov 27, 2014 - 5:02 PM Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Florida Panthers recalled goaltender Dan Ellis from San Antonio of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Ellis was brought up to the pros for the first time this season as regular starter Roberto Luongo left Wednesday's game against Carolina with an arm injury

Al Montoya stepped in for Luongo and made 22 saves, with Luongo stopping 11 before leaving for the combined shutout.

Florida general manager Dale Tallon said that Luongo's injury isn't serious, but he will miss Friday's home game against Ottawa.

Ellis appeared in six games for Florida last season after the team acquired him in a trade with Dallas.

To make room on the roster, the team placed forward Scottie Upshall on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 24.

Upshall, 31, has three goals and four assists over 17 games this season.
