Blackhawks add Vermette from Coyotes

Mar 1, 2015 - 3:27 AM Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forward Antoine Vermette in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday.

The Blackhawks sent defenseman Klas Dahlbeck and a 2015 first-round draft pick to the Coyotes in the trade.

Chicago filled its need for a scoring forward with Vermette after star Patrick Kane fractured his left clavicle on Tuesday and is expected to miss 12 weeks.

Vermette, Arizona's second-leading scorer with 35 points, has tallied 13 goals and 22 points over 63 games this season. He has also played in 456 straight games, which is the second-longest active games played streak in the NHL.

The 32-year-old has registered 194 goals and 236 assists in 815 games across 10 seasons with the Senators, Blue Jackets and Coyotes.

Dahlbeck has scored one goal in four games this season with the Blackhawks.

The 23-year-old, 6-foot-3 rookie defenseman spent most of the season with Chicago's AHL affiliate in Rockford, where he produced four goals and six assists in 41 games.
