Jets acquire Stempniak from Rangers
Mar 2, 2015 - 12:29 AM Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets acquired forward Lee Stempniak from the New York Rangers in a trade Sunday.The Rangers received minor league forward Carl Klingberg in return.
Stempniak has nine goals and nine assists in 53 games this season. He signed with the Rangers as a free agent last summer and also played for St. Louis, Toronto, Arizona, Calgary and Pittsburgh.
The 32-year-old veteran has 159 goals and 200 assists in 690 career NHL games.
Klingberg, 24, has spent the majority of this season playing for the Jets' American Hockey League affiliate in St. John's, Newfoundland. He registered 15 goals and 15 assists in 51 games for the IceCaps.
