Coyotes finally part with Yandle

Mar 2, 2015 - 12:30 AM Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Coyotes finally found a buyer for their largest bargaining chip and top defenseman Keith Yandle: the New York Rangers.

The 28-year-old rearguard was the centerpiece of a Sunday evening deal which saw Yandle, along with fellow defenseman Chris Summers and a fourth-round draft pick in 2016 head to Manhattan for defenseman John Moore, forward prospect Anthony Duclair as well as a second-round pick in 2015 and a conditional first-round selection in 2016.

Yandle posted 41 points (4G, 37A) but was a staggering minus-32 playing heavy minutes against top competition (23:55 per game) over 63 appearances for Arizona this season, his ninth NHL campaign.

The Boston native will take 311 points (65G, 246A) and 372 penalty minutes over 558 games for the Coyotes to New York, which appears to be going all in on another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

"Keith Yandle was a terrific player and leader for us," Coyotes GM Don Maloney said. "We would like to thank him for all his contributions to the organization over the past nine seasons. We wish him and his family all the best in the future."

The Rangers decided to pay the price and part with Duclair, a 19-year-old winger who was taken in the third round of the 2013 draft. He made his NHL debut in October after three years playing for Quebec of the QMJHL, posting one goal and six assists in 18 games.

Duclair also tallied nine goals and 16 assists in 19 games for the Remparts.

"Anthony Duclair is a dynamic, skilled forward who has size, speed and offensive talent," Maloney said. "He will be a valuable addition to our organization."
