Ducks extinguish Flames, advance to West final

May 11, 2015 - 6:34 AM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Perry scored on a goalmouth scramble 2:26 into overtime, sending the Anaheim Ducks to the Western Conference final with a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday night in Game 5 of their second-round series.

Perry was involved in a scary collision with Calgary's Matt Stajan late in the second period. The Anaheim star forward was unable to put weight on his right leg, but returned to the bench moments later.

"You never want to see one of your star players get hit like that," said Ducks forward Ryan Kesler, who scored a power-play goal in the second. "He's a warrior. He came back and scored the winning goal."

Matt Beleskey tied the game on a power play early in the third period for the Ducks, who advanced to their first West final since capturing the Stanley Cup in 2007. They will next face the Chicago Blackhawks.

Beleskey had a goal in each game of this series and became the first Anaheim player to ever score in five straight in one postseason.

Frederik Andersen made 17 saves, including one on Stajan with one second left in regulation to force overtime.

Karri Ramo stopped 44 shots for the Flames, who suffered their 22nd consecutive loss in Anaheim.

"The boys battled hard. There are lots of long faces in this locker room. They wanted to keep going," said Calgary coach Bob Hartley. "I'm very proud of our group."

Anaheim made a strong push at the start of overtime, as Kesler hit the post and Beleskey was denied on a breakaway. Perry then found a puck out of a scrum before Ramo could get his glove on it and scored from one knee with Calgary defenseman Dennis Wideman draped on his back.

"It was my first career overtime playoff goal," Perry said. "It feels pretty good. That fourth win is always the hardest one."

The Flames' Jiri Hudler opened the scoring on a power play, beating Andersen on the short side with a slap shot from the left circle at 10:43 of the first period.

Anaheim tied it at 4:59 of the second period when Kesler drilled Jakob Silfverberg's behind-the-net pass for a power-play goal.

Johnny Gaudreau restored the lead for Calgary 56 seconds later, scoring on a wrist shot from the slot.

The Ducks began the third period on a power play and Beleskey tipped Francois Beauchemin's shot from the blue line past Ramo 59 seconds in to tie it.

Game Notes

Perry's goal was the fourth series-winning overtime goal in club history ... Anaheim improved to 4-0 when trailing after two periods this postseason.
