Henry, Wright-Phillips power RBNY past Impact
Aug 24, 2014 - 1:56 AM Harrison, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Thierry Henry and Bradley Wright-Phillips scored two goals apiece to help lead Red Bull New York to a 4-2 win over the Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.Dilly Duka netted the lone goal in the first half to put Montreal up 1-0 at the break, but New York rallied to score four times in the final 37 minutes to win for just the second time in six games.
Montreal, meanwhile, has lost eight of its last nine fixtures to remain rooted to the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Calum Mallace set up the goal for Duka in the 37th minute with a nice ball down the left wing that allowed Duka to get in behind the defense and fire a shot past goalkeeper Luis Robles.
However, the hosts were a different team in the second half and after Wright- Phillips saw a header come back off the post, Henry scored a few minutes later on a diving header from Eric Alexander's cross to level the match at 1-1.
Henry was at it again in the 67th when he curled a shot past goalkeeper Evan Bush that went in off the post to make it 2-1 before he turned provider for a Wright-Phillips tally in the 74th.
Andres Romero made it 3-2 as he pulled a goal back for the Impact in the 79th, but Wright-Phillips secured the win with his 20th goal of the campaign in stoppage time after being set up by Peguy Luyindula.
