Barca's Muniesa to miss six months

Jul 25, 2012 - 2:39 PM Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona defender Marc Muniesa will be out of action for six months after sustaining knee ligament damage in a preseason friendly against Hamburg.

The injury was suffered in Tuesday night's match, and tests on Wednesday confirmed that Muniesa had damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, although it has yet to be decided if the injury will require surgery.

Muniesa, 20, appeared in one league game as a substitute for Barca last season, but he was expected to play a larger role in the upcoming campaign.
