Team Report
CHELSEA Coach: Carlo Ancelotti (since 01/07/2009) Last Result: 2-1 win at home to Fulham, December 28 Record: 14-3-3 Streak: Won 1 Next Match: away to Hull, January 09 Europe: UEFA Champions League (First Round) Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is happy to give his young players a chance to shine when a number of first-team regulars depart for the African Nations Cup in January. Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel are all set to be unavailable to Ancelotti but he does not believe the solution lies in making a raft of January signings. The Italian said: "Together, we took this decision to maintain this squad because we think this squad is a good squad, is able to play the games we have in January, and we have a possibility to give an opportunity - a great opportunity - to the young players if it's necessary."
