Charles helps Liberty beat Fever

Jun 10, 2015 - 2:34 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Tina Charles scored 21 points in the New York Liberty's 86-79 victory over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday.

Essence Carson added 14 points for the Liberty, who outscored Indiana by a 24-13 margin in the third quarter. Tanisha Wright and Kiah Stokes tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Layshia Clarendon finished with 14 points for the Fever. Tamika Catchings, Natalie Achonwa, Lynetta Kizer and Shenise Johnson each scored 13 points.

Catchings, a nine-time All-Star, also pulled down seven rebounds in her season debut after missing the first two games with a knee injury suffered prior to training camp.

Clarendon led the Fever to a 41-38 edge at the half. New York started the second half with a 20-4 run and led 62-54 entering the fourth quarter.

The Fever started 0-3 last year, but made the playoffs.
