Liberty shut down Mercury
Jun 12, 2015 - 1:52 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Tina Charles poured in 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the New York Liberty past the Phoenix Mercury 68-57 on Thursday.Seven Liberty players scored at least six points in a balanced scoring attack that paced the Liberty to a 3-1 start to the season. Essence Carson added 10 points for the victors.
DeWanna Bonner led all scorers with 22 points but the Mercury failed to build off their season-opening win over San Antonio last week.
Phoenix shot just 29.2 percent from the floor and 5-of-23 from 3-point range.
