Catchings climbs career rebounding list; Fever beats Mercury
Aug 17, 2015 - 5:04 AM PHOENIX (AP) Tamika Catchings took sole possession of second place on the WNBA career rebounding list, and Lynetta Kizer scored 19 points to help the Indiana Fever beat the Phoenix Mercury 75-63 on Sunday night.Catchings grabbed nine rebounds to reach 3,079 and move past Tina Thompson.
A jumper by Kizer sparked a 14-2 run that gave Indiana an 18-11 lead with 1:31 left in the first quarter and the Fever (14-9) led the rest of the way. A three-point play by Shavonte Zellous capped a 20-7 run to open the second half and gave Indiana its biggest lead, 59-36.
Briann January scored 12 points and Zellous added 11 for Indiana, which has won eight in a row.
Candice Dupree and Brittney Griner had 12 points apiece and Mistie Bass scored a season-high 10 for Phoenix (15-9).
The Mercury missed all 13 of their 3-point attempts.
