UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Alana Beard scored 21 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones added 18 and seven rebounds as the Washington Mystics used a stellar third quarter en route to a 76-74 victory over the Connecticut Sun in the regular-season finale for both teams Sunday.

However, the Mystics were eliminated from playoff contention thanks to the New York Liberty, who secured the final spot with a 58-52 victory over the Chicago Sky later Sunday.

Beard was 9-of-17 from the field and added five rebounds and five assists, while Milton-Jones shot 8-of-24 from the floor. Sanford was 5-of-11 from the field and collected five offensive rebounds.

All-Star Katie Douglas scored 21 points and Nykesha Sales added 17 for Connecticut (18-16), which shot just 42 percent (25-of-60) from the field, including 8-of-22 from the arc.

The third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Sun will visit the Indiana Fever in Game One of the best-of-three series Tuesday night.
