PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Mercury on Thursday signed veteran forward-center Olympia Scott for the remainder of the 2008 campaign.
The 6-2 Scott was a member of Phoenix's 2007 championship squad, appearing in eight games for the club.
"We are excited to bring Olympia Scott back to Phoenix for the rest of the season to help us down the playoff stretch," Mercury general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale said. "Her leadership was instrumental in our memorable run to the championship last season."
A 10-year veteran, Scott has played for six teams and is the only player in WNBA history to win a championship with two different clubs - the Sacramento Monarchs in 2005 and Phoenix in 2007. She holds career averages of 4.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
"I'm excited to be back in Phoenix and I know that I can be a contributor on this team as a veteran leader," Scott said. "I am confident that we can finish the regular season on a strong note and make a run towards the postseason to defend last year's championship."
