Swans shade Saints in AFL pre-season game
Mar 12, 2017 - 12:51 PM "We knew it would be a tough battle and it was," Swans' coach John Longmire said."We're really happy to come out with another good hard game under our belts before the season starts."
He said veteran key position defender Heath Grundy, who came off the ground with a head knock was okay, according to team medical staff and Callan Mills was taken off early after suffering a cork at the last training session, but could have played on.
Saints' coach Alan Richardson described Hickey's performance as terrific and said he liked what he saw for big parts of the game..
"I just felt we blew some opportunities," Richardson said.
"But there was a lot of positives. Our contest work has been really strong throughout the pre-season, competition, the way we've defended as a unit has improved again."
He said Koby Stevens didn't play after eating "a bad prawn" while Maverick Weller was fine despite feeling soreness from a corked leg.
