Lions skipper Beams out for fortnight
May 3, 2017 - 6:07 AM Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Beams is expected to be sidelined for at least a fortnight with a quad injury.Scans have revealed the former Collingwood premiership winner suffered damage to his right quad in last round's AFL loss to Port Adelaide.
"The 27-year-old is expected to miss the next two weeks, with the injury to be reassessed at that point in time," a Lions statement said.
It was a blow for Beams who had hit top form again after returning from knee dramas that sidelined him for almost all of the 2016 season.
"Dayne has been outstanding in the opening six rounds and this setback is frustrating for him," Brisbane football manager David Noble said.
"Dayne is a resilient person who has worked hard over the past year to get back to playing consistent footy and we're confident he'll handle his rehab with the same professionalism and dedication."
Beams' deputy Tom Rockliff will take over the captaincy in his absence.
