Pies' Reid to spend more time out of AFL
May 15, 2017 - 9:21 AM Struggling Collingwood have received a massive blow with star swingman Ben Reid set to miss up to a month of AFL with a quad injury. The injury-prone 28-year-old hurt himself late in the Pies' heart-breaking three-point loss to Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.
"Ben had a scan today after coming off the ground late in the game," Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh told the club's website.
"Subsequently, scans have shown he has injured his quad, and is likely to miss three to four weeks."
Reid will miss his side's clash with Hawthorn on Saturday night and potentially be out for Collingwood's matches against Brisbane, Fremantle and Melbourne.
The Magpies are 2-6 after the opening eight rounds, with coach Nathan Buckley under enormous pressure following a pre-season admission the club needed to play finals for his job to be safe.
The loss of Reid, who has played 128 games in 11 seasons with the club, couldn't come at a worse time for Collingwood and continues his horror run with injury.
