More frustration for AFL star Tippett
Jun 27, 2017 - 9:42 AM The frustration continues for Sydney ruckman Kurt Tippett but defenders Jarrad McVeigh and Aliir Aliir are set to be available for Friday's big AFL clash with Melbourne at the MCG.An out of sorts Tippett was dropped to the NEAFL after round ten and played two games in the reserves before an ankle injury sidelined him last week.
Swans' head of football Tom Harley said on Tuesday Tippett would be out for one to two more weeks.
"He's been getting treatment around the clock," Harley said.
"He's starting the run phase at the back end of this week. He won't play this weekend in any grade.
"Then we'll assess again Monday next week as he builds up his training and his running.
"We've got him down as one to two weeks which is disappointing for Kurt, we'd all like to see him out there as soon as possible."
There was better news for former co-captain McVeigh and young key defender Aliir.
McVeigh has played just two senior games this year and missed the last five rounds with a calf strain, but tallied 19 disposals and two goals in a NEAFL game last week.
"He's recovered well and he'll train well this week and be available again, which is terrific news," Harley said.
Provided McVeigh trains well on Wednesday, he will be in line to face Melbourne, but Harley said a final decision would be made by the match committee on Thursday.
Aliir, who is recovering from a knee issue, clocked up eight to nine kilometres as a runner in the NEAFL game last week.
Harley said Aliir came through that with no problems and would be available this week for either NEAFL or AFL duty.
