Crows lose forward Lynch for Blues clash
Jun 28, 2017 - 4:28 AM Adelaide forward Tom Lynch will miss the AFL game against Carlton because of a viral infection. He is being kept away from the club as medicos run some tests, Crows coach Don Pyke says.
"He has got something viral ... the indication from the doctor is he is not going to be available this week," Pyke told reporters on Wednesday.
Lynch, who fell ill on Monday, could be joined on the sidelines on Saturday by fellow forward Charlie Cameron, who was unable to train on Wednesday because of a wrist injury.
"There's no break (in the wrist). He has got some strain in there," Pyke said.
"It's a matter of how functional that will be and how comfortable he is with that."
The injuries could force Adelaide to hasten the return of attacker Mitch McGovern, who hasn't played in the AFL since hurting a hamstring in round three.
McGovern has played the past two games in state league ranks.
"His GPS numbers suggest his running is fine. There is also the game side of things as well," Pyke said.
"We will weigh all that up."
The Crows cling to second spot on the ladder entering the MCG fixture against the 15th-placed Blues despite losing four of their past seven matches.
And a key part of Pyke's planning will be controlling Blues onballer Bryce Gibbs, who requested a trade to the Crows at the end of last season.
The move didn't eventuate as the clubs couldn't agree on a trade and Pyke was blunt when asked if he would have liked Gibbs in a Crows jumper this Saturday.
"Next question," he said.
"It doesn't make any sense. We had that conversation about the Gibbs situation and clearly there wasn't a deal to be done, so we have moved on."
