Deledio has first run in Giants' colours
Jul 22, 2017 - 9:47 AM Brett Deledio has made his long-awaited debut in Greater Western Sydney colours, completing a half of football in an NEAFL game on Saturday. The former Richmond champion, who was traded to GWS last year, played the entire second half of the Giants' reserves 13-point win over Sydney University at Blacktown in western Sydney.
Starting as a wingman, he notched 17 touches after coming on for his first game since round 17 last year.
He has been plagued by recurring calf muscle issues.
"It's been a difficult journey at times," Deledio told AFL.com.au
"But I'm looking forward to getting another run under my belt next week, and hopefully I can start knocking on Leon's (head coach Leon Cameron's) door and seeing if I can slide into the team."
While the 243-game AFL veteran may need another couple of games to push for senior selection, gun midfelder Stephen Coniglio could come into consideration next week, after he also completed a successful comeback in the reserves on Saturday.
