Shiel, Cameron set to face Dockers in AFL
Jul 25, 2017 - 7:02 AM Greater Western Sydney midfield star Dylan Shiel has been cleared of serious shoulder damage and, along with key forward Jeremy Cameron, is expected to play in Saturday's AFL home clash with Fremantle.Cameron, the Giants' leading goalkicker with 34, has missed their past two games with a hamstring injury. Shiel was hurt in Sunday's loss to Richmond.
Both men will be tested along with veteran forward Steve Johnson, who has suffered another bout of knee soreness after the Tigers game.
Speedster Shiel is a key man for the out-of-sorts Giants, who have won just one of their past six games and are winless in their past four.
The club leader in disposals and second in contested possessions, Shiel hurt his shoulder late in Sunday's game but will take part in Wednesday's training.
For the first time this year, prize recruit Brett Deledio is absent from the Giants' injury list.
Deledio made his first appearance in Giants' colours last Saturday in the NEAFL and could get another hitout at that level this weekend, before being considered for senior selection.
Two more names have also dropped off the injury list, with midfielder Jacob Hopper and key position back Tim Mohr each available for selection after extended layoffs.
Both are also expected to make their returns in the NEAFL.
Among the injured still hoping to come back just before or during the finals are midfielder Ryan Griffen (ankle, four weeks), back Jeremy Finlayson (knee, four weeks), and first-round draft pick Tim Taranto (ankle, five to seven weeks).
The Giants will make one enforced change this week, with All-Australian half forward Toby Greene serving a two-week suspension.
Gun midfielder Stephen Coniglio is a chance to return after a strong comeback game last weekend in the reserves after a second ankle injury of the campaign.
Forward Sam Reid, who has missed the past two games with an ankle problem, will undergo a test.
