Crows coach shuts down AFL contract talk
Aug 24, 2017 - 6:26 AM Adelaide coach Don Pyke is putting the futures of two key young players on the backburner ahead of the AFL finals.Crows defender Jake Lever and forward Mitch McGovern, who both fall off-contract at season's end, are fielding offers from rival clubs.
But Pyke says he's tiring of speculation about the talented duo.
"The contract side of things, the last couple of weeks we have sort of moved on," Pyke told reporters on Thursday.
"If we have got something to announce, we will announce it. Otherwise our focus is clearly on playing games of footy and winning games of footy in what is a really exciting time of the year for us."
Lever, 21, is understood to be considering multi-million dollar long-term deals to return to his native Victoria.
And McGovern, 22, is being linked with clubs in his home city of Perth.
"To continue to speculate on it doesn't help us and doesn't help the players," Pyke said.
Adelaide can secure top spot entering the finals by beating West Coast in Perth on Sunday in the last home-and-away round - the Crows are assured a top-two finish and playing their first two finals at home.
