British Columbia rallies past Calgary

Aug 2, 2014 - 5:26 AM Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Glenn threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Ernest Jackson in the final minutes of regulation as the British Columbia Lions stunned the Calgary Stampeders 25-24 at McMahon Stadium.

Glenn completed 22-of-32 pass attempts for 277 yards and had two touchdowns along with an interception for BC (3-3). Jackson caught three passes for 82 yards and a touchdown and Andrew Harris had 73 yards and a score on five catches. Harris also rushed for 70 yards on 15 carries.

Calgary (4-1) took its first loss of the season despite a game-high 116 rushing yards from Martell Mallett. Mallett was also the leading receiver, tallying 59 yards on six receptions. Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 227 yards on 21-of-31 passing and had a touchdown to match an interception.

The first score of the game occurred when Ronnie Yell intercepted Mitchell and returned the ball 34 yards for a touchdown.

Mitchell made up for the mistake soon after, throwing an 18-yard touchdown pass to Marquay McDaniel a little more than three minutes later.

BC reclaimed the lead on a 45-yard field goal from Paul McCallum in the second quarter, but a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown by Keon Raymond and a one-yard touchdown run by Drew Tate allowed Calgary to enter halftime with a 21-10 advantage.

BC scored the only points of the third quarter when McCallum connected on a 21-yard field goal.

Glenn threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Harris early in the fourth quarter, but the ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed. Despite that, the Lions trailed by a score of just 21-19.

Rene Paredes gave the Stampeders some breathing room with a 35-yard field goal with just under six minutes to play.

However, it wouldn't be enough of a cushion, as Glenn threw what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown pass to Jackson minutes later.
