Dec 5, 2007 - 9:10 PM TORONTO (Ticker) - The Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League have scheduled a news conference for Thursday, at which time the team will likely name defensive coordinator Rich Stubler coach.

Former coach Mike "Pinball" Clemons, who relinquished the post Tuesday to become the club's chief executive officer, will be on hand for the the official announcement at the 11 a.m. press conference.

While the team has made no official comment regarding Clemons' successor, it is widely believed that Stubler will be the next coach. The quick hire is only fueling that speculation.

A former player with Toronto, Clemons took over coaching duties in 2000.

He became team president at the conclusion of the 2001 season, but returned to the sideline in the middle of the the 2002 season. Under Clemons, Toronto never missed the CFL playoffs and won the the Grey Cup in 2004.

Toronto won the East Division this past season before losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the division final.
