Bailey absence will be felt by Hurricane
Jan 9, 2016 - 4:24 AM The Perth Scorchers regain Adam Voges and have crossed Bass Strait as clear favourites for their Big Bash League clash with Hobart Hurricanes.Sunday afternoon's fixture at Bellerive Oval is a must-win proposition for the home side to keep their finals hopes alive.
And adding to the challenge, Hurricanes will be without their most consistent performer this summer - George Bailey - who has entered the Australian limited overs camp.
"There is still plenty of life left in our team and plenty of belief," Hurricanes coach Damien Wright said.
But after two consecutive losses leaving the side fifth on the ladder with the worst net run rate of the tournament, Wright admitted "we need to bounce back".
Michael Hill comes in to the squad for Bailey in the only change for the Hurricanes.
And if the left-handed batsman makes the XI he will have big shoes to fill, with Bailey having notched up three half-centuries this BBL season.
Scorchers have travelled to Hobart without Shaun Marsh and Joel Paris who are also on national duty.
Along with Voges, who takes on the role of skipper, Perth have added teenager Jhye Richardson to the squad.
BBL rookie Richardson comes into the squad in place of the injured Sam Whiteman and tournament regulations require that a call-in player must feature in the playing XI or as 12th man.
