Warner continues hot streak with century
Dec 6, 2016 - 8:16 AM David Warner has continued his purple patch in coloured clothing, hitting yet another one-day century against New Zealand at Manuka Oval on Tuesday.Warner made a swashbuckling 119 off 115 balls to put his side in a commanding position in the second one-dayer against the Black Caps.
He became the first Australian to score six one-day centuries in a calendar year and sits third on the all-time list in a season behind Sachin Tendulkar (nine) and Sourav Ganguly (seven).
He was eventually out thanks to a sharp, diving catch by Kane Williamson at cover in the 37th over with the home side well in control at 2-213.
He set the tempo with an innings that included 14 fours and one six as Australia posted 5-378 from their 50 overs.
Despite his prolific output in the short form of the game this year, he said he came into the match frustrated at having not posted a real big score.
"I think there was a bit of frustration there," Warner told the Nine Network after making his 10th career one-day century.
"When you are hitting them well and you are hitting them well in the nets and you get some unlucky dismissals and out to wild shots trying to hit the ball ,it can beccome frustrating.
"You've jut got to keep working hard and keep doing your thing."
This year he has plundered 1220 runs from 22 ODI innings at an average of 58.66.
He also has another two 90s this year, against India at the same ground in January and during February's tour of New Zealand.
Warner took just 101 balls to bring up his century as he made Williamson pay for his decision to bowl first after winning the toss.
The Black Caps had a difficult chance to dismiss the opener when he was on one as he edged Trent Boult to second slip.
Jimmy Neesham got a fingertip to the ball but couldn't hold onto it.
