Test umpire Paul Reiffel struck with ball
Dec 8, 2016 - 8:26 AM Umpire Paul Reiffel had to leave the field on the first afternoon of the fourth Test between England and India in Mumbai after being hit on the back of the head by an outfield throw.Former Australian Test player Reiffel was felled standing at square leg by Bhuvi Kumar's lobbed throw - and after being attended to for several minutes by medical staff, he was able to walk to the pavilion.
Play resumed at the Wankhede Stadium, after a 10-minute, with third umpire Marais Erasmus replacing Reiffel and reserve official Chettithody Shamshuddin taking over the South African's duties.
