Cricket Australia announce Darwin camp
Jun 24, 2017 - 2:57 AM Cricket Australia has announced a seven-day training camp in August to prepare for the two-Test Bangladesh tour, but just who will attend remains a mystery with the on-going pay dispute. With less than a week to go before the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expires on June 30, the nation's top players and hierarchy are still at loggerheads over revenue sharing.
CA offered a greater share of international surpluses, included domestic players in its sharing arrangement and opted to increase annual pay rises to state players in a revamped offer on Friday.
But this has been rejected.
However, CA have gone ahead and announced details of a pre-tour camp to be based at Darwin's Marrara Cricket Ground from August 10.
Hilton Cartwright and Ashton Agar, the two members of the Australia A contingent scheduled to tour South Africa next month and selected for the tour of Bangladesh, are down to join the senior squad in Darwin on August 12, before an internal three-day match from August 14-16.
Cricket Australia's Team Performance Manager Pat Howard said they were grateful for the support from the Northern Territory Government and NT Cricket for assisting in facilitating the camp.
"Darwin will provide the ideal acclimatisation ahead of the tour and the facilities at Marrara Cricket Ground are first-class," Howard said in a statement on Saturday.
"We're working closely with NT Cricket to replicate conditions in Bangladesh, as we did in Dubai for the Indian Test tour earlier this year, so the squad gets the best preparation possible before departing from Darwin directly to Bangladesh."
The Australian squad is scheduled to depart for Dhaka on August 18.
