Orica-Scott women have mixed fortunes
May 22, 2017 - 1:31 AM The Australian Orica-Scott cycling team has had mixed fortunes, despite continuing their run of race wins.Australian Sarah Roy has posted her first win of the season, taking out the the SwissEver GP Cham Hagedorn one-day race in Switzerland.
But they also lost the overall lead Emakumeen XXX Bira Tour.
Orica-Scott were in the box seat heading into the last of five stages at the Spanish race.
Kat Garfoot, Annamiek Van Vleuten and Amanda Spratt had won stages and Garfoot was the overall leader.
South African Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, who started the day more than 30 seconds off the pace, won the stage and gained enough time to usurp Orica-Scott.
Moolman-Pasio beat Van Vleuten on the last stage by 13 seconds, with Garfoot 38 seconds behind for third.
That gave the South African the overall title by 10 seconds.
Van Vleuten took second overall and Garfoot dropped to third, another two seconds behind.
Earlier last week, Van Vleuten also took out the Durango-Durango one-day day race in Spain.
