Jacobson, Scott own early lead at St. Jude Championship

Jun 8, 2007 - 1:21 AM MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Swede Fredrik Jacobson and Aussie Adam Scott sit atop the leaderboard after Thursday's first round of the $6 million St. Jude Championship.

Jacobson holed five birdies against two bogeys to finish his day at 3-under-par 67 while Scott had four birdies and an eagle on the third hole at TPC Southwind.

South African Retief Goosen and American Brian Gay are tied for third, one shot behind the leaders at 2-under 68.

Scott Verplank, Gavin Coles and Duffy Waldorf are two shots back at 69 and John Daly is among 11 players tied for eighth at even par.

Canadian Stephen Ames is in a group of 10 tied for 19th at 1-over 71.

First prize is $1.08 million.
