Haas leads in second round of Viking Classic

Sep 28, 2007 - 8:44 PM MADISON, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Bill Haas fired a 5-under-par 67 to take the lead in Friday's second round of the Viking Classic.

At 9-under 135, Haas has a one-shot lead at the $3.5 million event.

Cameron Beckman was 1-under through six and David Branshaw played his first five holes in 2-under to get to 8-under for the tournament.

Jay Delsing carded a 7-under 65 and Jeff Overton signed for a 3-under 69 and are both at 7-under 137, two shots behind Haas.

Briny Baird carded 10 birdies on Thursday to earn a two-stroke lead after the first round, but is having a tougher time on Friday at Annandale Golf Club.

Baird, who started on the back nine, bogeyed three of his first six holes and has dropped to 6-under overall.

This is the 14th year that Annandale has hosted the Viking Classic. The event originated in 1968 before becoming an official PGA Tour event in 1986.

First prize is $630,000.
