Creamer makes birdie to qualify at ADT Championship

Nov 18, 2006 - 10:09 PM WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (Ticker) - Paul Creamer is where she wants to be.

Creamer converted a birdie on her final hole Saturday to secure a spot in the final round of the season-ending ADT Championship.

In a format where the top eight players advance to the championship round, Creamer looked like she would staring at a playoff when she came to the par-4 18th hole tied with Korean Jeong Jang.

However, Creamer - the 2005 Rookie of the Year - did better than par at 18, rolling in a four-foot putt to ensure herself a chance at playing for the $1 million first prize on Sunday.

"Today was more about getting yourself there," said Creamer, who shot a 5-under-par 67. "And once you get yourself there, then you can think about it."

Il Mi Chung, who shot a 65, was atop the leaderboard at 9-under overall. She was followed by Julieta Granada and Mi Hyun Kim, who both were at 8-under.

Ai Miyazato was at 7-under and Karrie Webb is at 6-under. Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Lorena Ochoa all were 4-under, completing the eight-woman field.

On Sunday, all the scores are wiped out. The eight players then compete in the shootout for the biggest winner's share in LPGA history.

Second place is worth $100,000 and third garners $20,500.
