Oklahoma Sooners vs. Tulane Green Wave Odds & Game Pick (2021)

    NCAAF -

The only time these two teams have played was in 2017. Oklahoma demolished Tulane 56-14. Led by Heisman winner Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma was relentless on their scoring. Lincoln Riley’s system puts up points. Quarterbacks thrive in it. Spencer Rattler should have his way with opposing defenses this year. The question is, how many points will they score?

Tulane went 6-6 last year. They could score, but the defense gave up some points last year. Will this Tulane team score on this stout Oklahoma defense? We will preview the Oklahoma versus Tulane match-up to make the best picks for Week 1.

    Overview

Oklahoma wins this game. The opening money line is currently -3300 and has little value. The big question here will be the total points and the spread. Both of these teams can score points. Oklahoma has the best defense it has had in years and a Heisman hopeful in Spencer Rattler.  Lincoln Riley is one of the best coaches in college football.

Oklahoma will score in this game. They will score 40+ points. With Spencer Rattler leading the helm along with wide receiver Marvin Mimms and running backs Kennedy Brooks, and Eric Gray, this team will be explosive on the offensive side of the ball. Tulane will have to try and slow down Oklahoma. Tulane gave up some high-scoring games last year. I am not sure Tulane has enough to stop Oklahoma from scoring.

Tulane looks good on offense. QB Michael Pratt is back. One of the best Freshman quarterbacks in the nation last year, he led all freshmen throwing for 20 touchdowns along with eight rushing touchdowns. Sophomore RB Cameron Carroll is back as well. Cameron Carroll rushed for 741 yards and 12 touchdowns last year while splitting time with five other running backs. Having these young talents coming back for their second year, we will see a lot of growth made on the offensive side of the ball for Tulane.

The difference in this game is going to be on defense. Tulane is weak on the defensive side of the ball this year. Oklahoma has one of the top defenses in the nation this year. Along with an elite pass rush. We have not seen something like this from Oklahoma in years. They also have one of the best cornerbacks in the nation with Woodi Washington. This pass rush and the secondary will make it hard for Tulane to keep up with Oklahoma.

    Bottom Line

This game is going to come down to defense. With Oklahoma sporting one of the top defenses in the nation this year, it is hard to see Tulane able to keep up with the explosive Oklahoma offense. Tulane will score some points, but it is hard to see them scoring over 21. That means Oklahoma needs 48 points to cover the spread. Oklahoma is out to make a statement. With the offseason buzz about them going to the SEC. They finally have some competition in the Big 12 with Iowa State. Oklahoma is going to do everything they can to score as many points here and make a statement. I like Oklahoma to cover.

    Pick: Oklahoma -26.5 (-110)
