The Sun Belt Eastern division could very well be decided Wednesday night in Boone, NC when the #16 Chanticleers take their unbeaten record (6-0) on the road to take on the Mountaineers. In addition to the perfect record, they’ll also be putting on the line their 11-game win streak within the Sun Belt.
With much to play for already this early in the Fun Belt action for both teams, let’s take a closer look at this one and see where the value remains.

Having last played on October 7th, the Chanticleers come into this one fresh, having last beat up on Arkansas State 52-20 to embolden their already elite offense. #1 in the country in points scored, and #3 in total yards, the unit is led by quarterback Grason McCall who again had his team in the national conversation, albeit still quietly.
Not to be outdone, the Coastal defense also has shown up once again this season. They rank #8 in points and yards allowed through the first six, averaging just 283 and 15 per game, respectively.
For the home Mountaineers, the last time we saw them on the field was just seven days ago, a 13-41 loss on the road at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. In the contest, the Mountaineers turned the ball over four times and got dominated in the front seven.
Allowing 246 yards on the ground while racking up just 76, quarterback Chase Brice did them no favors throwing for just 135 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 2:0.

In what will surely be a raucous crowd at the kick in Boone, the Chanticleers come into this one laying their shortest number of the season thus far, and for good reason. However, I see this one as too short and for that crowd to be awfully quiet come the second quarter.
Having clear edges on both sides of the ball, Coastal also comes into this one fully rested and healthy. While it might take a few possessions to get rolling again, I expect McCall and tight end Isiah Likely to get right back and rhythm and build on an already superb start to 2021.
