Cincinnati Bearcats at South Florida Bulls Odds & Game Pick (2021)

    NCAAF -

The Cincinnati Bearcats are 9-0 on the season. They are second in the latest AP poll. However, there’s a chance that Cincinnati is still on the outside looking in when it comes to the College Football Playoff. They’ll undoubtedly need to win the rest of their games while racking up style points along the way. Will that strategy play out in a Friday road contest in South Florida

The South Florida Bulls are 2-7 on the season. They are 1-4 in AAC play, tied for second to last in the conference. South Florida’s two wins came against FCS Florida A&M and fellow AAC cellar-dweller Temple. In other words, there hasn’t been much to get excited about with the South Florida football program. A win over one of the top-ranked teams in the country would undoubtedly change that.

We’ll break down all the betting angles of this Friday evening matchup.

    Overview

We already know the deal with Cincinnati. They need to win and pile it on to improve their playoff resume. That provides even more incentive for the Bearcats to cover the spread as a definite road favorite. However, there’s also a good chance the price has the risk baked in.

Last Saturday, the Bearcats had a close call against Tulsa as they pulled out a 28-20 victory. Was that a wake-up call or a sign of regression for Cincinnati? After all, they will see the best shot from every team they play, as these underdogs are motivated to pull out a massive upset.

So, does South Florida have it in them to at least keep things close? The Bulls kept things relatively tight in a 54-42 loss to a ranked Houston team last weekend. However, they were severely overmatched while stepping up in competition several other times this season. That includes a combined score of 97-20 against NC State and Florida. Cincinnati is undoubtedly better than both of those teams.

    Trends

    • Cincinnati is 6-0 ATS in their last six Friday games.
    • The over is 5-0 in the last five South Florida games as a home underdog.
    • South Florida is 4-0 ATS in their last four as a home underdog.

    Bottom Line

South Florida has been giving up a ton of points lately, including 54 against Houston last week. This game is a classic “get right” spot for Cincinnati, who will look to make a statement on a nationally televised weekday game. I don’t see South Florida slowing down the Bearcats, and Cincinnati should breeze to a win and cover here.

    The Pick: Cincinnati -23.5
