Opponent First Look: USF

    NCAAF -

The USF Bulls will be the most improved team in the AAC. They will arguably be the most improved team in college football.

Jeff Scott and his crew have been taking their lumps for a couple of seasons. But they’ve just built up too much talent and I anticipate them making a run to a bowl game in 2022.

They now have an experienced cadre on both sides of the ball. South Florida returns 9 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense.

QB Tommy McClain is a steady Eddie in the pocket. 6’2, 225 pound running back Jaren Mangham is going to have a breakout season as a power back. He pairs nicely with Katravis Marsh, who will be the Mr. Outside in this tandem. The entire offensive line is back for 2022 and Xavier Weaver leads a solid receiving corps.

USF’s defense will be no slouch either. Antonio Grier is one of the top returning outside linebackers in the conference. Jason Vaughn is a stalwart at defensive end while Rashawn Yates adds a veteran presence in the interior D-line. Everyone is back from USF’s secondary last season. Though they were no great shakes, the extra year of seasoning will almost certainly help.

The Cincinnati Bearcats will be in for a game against these dudes.
