College Football Week 1 Best Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions (9/3)

    NCAAF -

Not counting a week zero that left a lot to be desired, we are officially back in the world of college football as all teams are in play this week for what should be a great four days of action. While Thursday and Friday offer some interesting matchups, today we focus on Saturday’s slate and three games I’m keyed in on.

    Let’s dive in.

    DraftKings British Open

    Leg #1. Boston College -7 (+160vs. Rutgers

The best returning quarterback in the ACC will lace them up Saturday in Chestnut Hill, MA, as BC’s Phil Jurkovec returns to tack onto his 3,000 career passing yards. Missing most of last season with a hand injury, Jurkovec comes into this one on a mission and is joined by his two best weapons from a season in running back Pat Garwo and Zay Flowers.

BC also returns its top four tacklers from a defense that ranked #28 in the nation last season, despite going just 6-6.

For Rutgers, the quarterback is still unknown, as senior Noah Vedral is likely the guy. Head coach Greg Schiano will be up against a former assistant in BC head coach Jeff Hafley, who is in his third season at the helm at BC.

I like for the Eagles to pull away in this one late.

    Leg #2. Arkansas -6.5 (-110vs. Cincinnati

Following a season in which Cincinnati became the first Group of Five teams to make the College Football Playoff, they’ll have to find a new QB to get them back as Desmond Ridder has since departed for the NFL. The long-time face of the program won’t be easy to replace, as head coach Luke Fickell comes into this one still without a definitive guy.

For Arkansas, coach Sam Pittman had this team quite improved last season going 9-4 in his second season, as quarterback KJ Jefferson now enters this one as a darkhorse Heisman candidate.

In what will be the first meeting between the two programs, I like for a hostile crowd in Fayetteville to push the Razorbacks over the edge in this one.

Leg #3. Boise State ML (+240) vs. Oregon State

The Oregon State Beavers, who finished 6-0 at home last year, will try to build on that success when they take on a tough Boise State squad on Saturday. As for those  Broncos, their 7-5 campaign last year was their poorest since 1998, and they enter this one eager to turn things around under the guidance of head coach Andy Avalos, who is now in his second season in that job.

Hank Bachmeier, the quarterback for the Broncos, who threw for 3,079 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions last season, will once more be in charge of turning that ship around. JL Skinner, who returned from the 2021 season with a team-high 92 tackles, is the defense’s captain who will decide how things go on that side of the ball.

While the hype is real for the Beavers, I think the loss of running back BJ Baylor will be to much to get past out of the gates, as Boise pulls away from this one late.
