Despite some of the struggles, the Canadiens understand that it is a process, and that many of the answers to finding success are already in place.
As the Canadiens spoke to the media for the final time this season, it was announced that head coach Martin St. Louis has been extended, committing him to the team for the next three seasons. TSN's Kenzie Lalonde has more on the impact St. Louis has had on his players as well as management.

Habs captain Nick Suzuki spoke to the media for the final time this season, and admitted that while it is tough not being in the playoffs, he feels the rebuild is moving ahead of schedule and believes that they can contend for a post-season spot next year.
Following his second season in the NHL, where he played all 82 games, Habs sophomore Juraj Slafkovsky spoke about his growth this past year, including understanding that not every game is going to be perfect, and knowing that there is a bigger picture for the team on the horizon.
With the rebuild ongoing in Montreal, the club has acquired a number of assets. While the Habs are looking to take the next step towards making the playoffs, they say that they won't make quick fixes for a short term gain that will hurt the big picture.
The Canadiens have exercised a two-year option on head coach Martin St. Louis' contract, putting him under contract for the next three seasons in Montreal. Executive vice president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton and general Kent Hughes spoke about what has made St. Louis a key piece in the development and rebuild of the team.
