White Sox power past Tribe

Alejandro De Aza drove in a pair of runs and Paul Konerko extended his hitting streak to 11 games as the White Sox picked up their third straight win and seventh in their last eight contests.
"There's been some ups and downs, but at the end of the day when we come in, we know that there's a positive vibe in here," Pierzynski said. "Guys want to do well and are working their tails off to do well. We know we're in for a dog fight, but we like our chances."
Jose Quintana (1-0) picked up his first major league win after holding the Indians to two runs on four hits over six frames.
Shin-Soo Choo had two doubles and scored twice while Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana each had an RBI for the Indians, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Shelley Duncan added a solo homer.
Jeanmar Gomez (3-3) was pegged with the loss after giving up six runs on six hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings.
The Indians jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning. Choo doubled to open the frame, moved to third on a Jason Kipnis single and scored when Santana grounded out to second base.
But the White Sox came back with a pair of runs of their own in the home half to take a 2-1 lead. De Aza drew a leadoff walk before Dunn launched his 15th homer of the season.
Chicago added one more in the second when Pierzynski roped a leadoff homer. Pierzynski fell behind 1-2 but crushed a Gomez slider over the right-field wall.
Cleveland cut it to 3-2 in the third. Choo doubled to open the inning, moved to third on a Kipnis flyout then scored when Cabrera singled to left.
The White Sox added three in both the sixth and seventh to take a commanding 9-2 lead. In the sixth, Pierzynski walked then scored two batters later on an Alexei Ramirez single. De Aza then followed Orlando Hudson's walk with a two- run single to plate Viciedo and Ramirez.
Alex Rios was credited with an infield hit in the seventh then scored when Pierzynski tripled to center field. Aaron Cunningham made a diving attempt to rob Pierzynski of a hit, but the ball bounced past him and rolled to the fence. Viciedo stepped up next and hammered a homer to right-center to put the Sox on top 9-2.
A Duncan homer in the ninth made it 9-3.
"It was just one of those nights where we didn't come up with the big hit," remarked Kipnis. "Their hitters had a good approach tonight and got the ball in the air and you saw what happened. We were in it for most of the game, and a couple more hits here or there and it could have gone the other way."
