Marlins' Nolasco outduels Giants' Cain
May 2, 2012 - 6:30 AMVideo
Nolasco (3-0) gave up a home run to Pablo Sandoval among seven hits over 7 1/3 innings. He was removed from the game after intentionally walking Sandoval to load the bases in the eighth.
Edward Mujica was summoned from the bullpen and induced an inning-ending double play by Buster Posey.
"We're not executing. We're not quite getting it done," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy.
Heath Bell tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to record his third save of the season.
Hanley Ramirez knocked in the other run for Miami, which had dropped eight of its last nine games.
Nolasco has given up just three runs while winning all four of his career outings in San Francisco. The right-hander is one win away from tying Dontrelle Willis' club record of 68.
The Giants' Matt Cain (1-2) pitched well in defeat, scattering six hits over eight frames.
"He's one of the best right-handers in the game," Nolasco said of Cain. "For us to score some runs and beat him is a big plus."
San Francisco fell to 2-2 on a nine-game homestand.
Cain was perfect the first time through the order, but Jose Reyes worked a leadoff walk in the fourth, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a one-out single by Ramirez.
Stanton doubled the advantage in next inning with a leadoff blast down the left-field line. Sandoval responded with a one-out shot to right in the sixth.
