Pettibone, power display lead Phils past Marlins

May 4, 2013 - 4:57 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Domonic Brown each clubbed a solo homer to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-1 win over the Miami Marlins in the second installment of a four-game set at Citizens Bank Park.

Ben Revere added an RBI single and Carlos Ruiz scored a run for the Phillies, winners in five of their last seven games.

"Hopefully those three-run homers and two-run homers will come. If we start putting runners on those will come. We'll take those solo homers, though, and we'll keep trying to manufacture runs," Howard said.

Jonathan Pettibone (2-0) surrendered just one run on five hits without walking a batter over 6 1/3 innings to pick up his second straight win. Jonathan Papelbon worked a perfect ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season.

Donovan Solano went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and Marcell Ozuna added two hits, including a double, for the Marlins, who have dropped 11 of their last 14 meetings with the Phillies.

Ricky Nolasco (2-3) allowed four runs on eight hits over six innings to absorb the loss.

"Ricky did a nice job. He kept us in the game and executed his pitches. He gave us a chance, but we need to start doing a better job of putting some runs up," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said.

Howard opened the second frame with a homer and Revere smacked a base hit to right field to score Ruiz. Ruiz reached on a base hit and stole second before coming around on Revere's single.

Utley's leadoff homer in the third put the Phillies in front by three, but Solano cracked a leadoff homer of his own in the fourth to make it 3-1.

Brown's leadoff homer in the fourth accounted for the final margin.
