Goldschmidt, Anderson lead D'backs over Braves

Jun 9, 2014 - 1:10 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Goldschmidt's two-run home run in the seventh inning helped the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves in the finale of a three-game series.

David Peralta also hit a two-run home run and Chris Owings drove in a pair for the Diamondbacks, who have won five of their last six.

Chase Anderson (5-0) continues to impress as he won his fifth straight start to begin his rookie campaign. He gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Justin Upton hit a two-run home run, while Freddie Freeman and Ramiro Pena added solo shots for the Braves, who have lost four of their last five games. Aaron Harang (4-5) was touched for three runs on four hits with six walks and four strikeouts over six-plus innings.

"They just wore me out eventually," said Harang. "I had to make a lot of pitches in those first couple of innings and it just got to me."

Trailing 2-0 in the seventh, Aaron Hill led off the frame with a single and Peralta followed with his first home run of the season to tie the game.

After Cody Ross walked, Luis Avilan took over and walked Eric Chavez. Following a sac bunt from Gerardo Parra, David Hale came on the mound and promptly served up a two-run single to Owings. Goldschmidt followed with his 12th home run of the season for a 6-2 lead.

"The guys just went off in that inning and really helped me out," said Anderson. "First Peralta and then Goldy with those big hits."

The Braves got two back in the eighth on Freeman's solo home run, and an RBI single from Tommy LaStella for a 6-4 game.

Pena homered off Brad Ziegler to start the ninth, but Ziegler set the next three batters down in order, striking out Freeman to end the game and pick up his first save of the season.

Atlanta grabbed a 2-0 lead in the sixth as Freeman singled with two outs and Upton followed with his 14th home run of the season, a shot over the wall in left field.
