Indians dominate Diamondbacks
Jun 26, 2014 - 6:57 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Kluber pitched seven strong innings and Michael Brantley added a home run and two RBI as the Cleveland Indians took a 6-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks to wrap up a two-game set.Kluber (7-5) gave up just four hits and a walk while striking out eight for the Indians, who snapped a four-game slide. Yan Gomes added a solo home run while Michael Bourn went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Chase Anderson (5-3) allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts over five innings for the Diamondbacks, who have lost three of their last four.
"Overall, I felt good," said Anderson. "Just too many runs."
Bourn led off the game with a triple and scored on Asdrubal Cabrera's sac fly to give the Indians a quick 1-0 lead.
Gomes homered in the second, and Bourn led off the third with his second triple of the game. He later scored on a Brantley groundout.
"When you get early run support, you can pitch a little bit different," Kluber said. "Different mindset out there pitching with the lead than if its tied or you're down. Run support is always nice."
Brantley led off the fifth with his 12th home run of the year, while Jason Kipnis doubled home a run in the seventh and scored on Lonnie Chisenhall's single for a 6-0 lead.
Arizona didn't get a runner past second base until the ninth inning as Ender Inciarte walked with one out, moved to second on defensive indifference, and later scored on a Miguel Montero single to prevent Arizona from getting shut out.
