Crisp lifts A's past Red Sox
Jun 21, 2014 - 7:32 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Coco Crisp's go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox in the second test of a four-game set.Andrew Miller (2-5) hit both Kyle Blanks and Alberto Callaspo with a pitch with one out before Nick Punto struck out. Crisp then lined a base hit into right to plate Blanks for a 4-3 Oakland edge.
"He came up huge for us," A's manager Bob Melvin said of Crisp. "He's come through so many times, to an extent you almost expect it."
Sean Doolittle fired a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his 10th save of the season.
Josh Donaldson smacked a three-run homer for the A's, who have won six of their last seven games. Fernando Abad (2-2) tossed a scoreless eighth to record the victory.
David Ortiz had two hits and an RBI, while Mike Napoli posted two hits and a run scored for Boston, which has dropped the first two games of this series.
