Dickerson, Rockies avoid Brewers sweep

Jun 29, 2014 - 11:41 PM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Dickerson drove in a pair of runs and scored twice to help the Colorado Rockies salvage a 10-4 win in the finale of a four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Charlie Culberson stroked a two-run home run while Wilin Rosario, Justin Morneau and DJ LeMahieu each drove in a run for the Rockies, who recorded just their second win in their last 13 contests.

Jorge De La Rosa (8-6), who began his career with the Brewers, allowed four runs on as many hits with two walks across six innings of work.

"He did a good job today, " said Rockies manager Walt Weiss. "He had to labor through a couple of innings but he did a nice job for us. We needed a lift today and he got us through six and put us in position."

Yovani Gallardo (5-5) was tagged for eight runs -- five earned -- on a season- high 10 hits in five innings.

Ryan Braun finished 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored for the Brewers, who snapped a four-game winning streak.

The Rockies jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first.

Dickerson smacked a two-run double with two outs to plate Justin Morneau and Troy Tulowitzki. Rosario followed with an RBI base hit to left.

Morneau hit a sacrifice fly to center in the second that scored De La Rosa, who singled to start the frame.

Rosario doubled in the third and came around to score on a two-out single to right from LeMahieu that made it 5-0.

Braun led off the fifth with an opposite-field home run to put the Brewers on the board. Jonathan Lucroy followed with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Khris Davis' sac fly to right cut the deficit to 5-2.

Two Milwaukee errors in the fifth opened up the game.

With runners on first and second, Rosario reached after Aramis Ramirez let the ball by him at third, allowing two runs to score. Lucroy tried throwing Rosario out at third but his throw was wild and Rosario scored on the play.

"No excuses," said Ramirez. "I should have made that play."

Braun doubled in the sixth and scored from third on a wild pitch. Davis' RBI groundout made it 8-4.

The Rockies answered in the eighth when Culberson clubbed his second homer of the season on a two-run shot to left.
