Angels cruise past Orioles

May 17, 2015 - 2:38 AM Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Trout was 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI to lead the LA Angels of Anaheim to a 6-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three-game set.

David Freese also homered while Chris Iannetta and Marc Krauss drove in a run each for the Angels, who have won their past five games. Matt Shoemaker (3-3) allowed just one run on three hits while striking out seven over seven innings.

Steve Pearce hit a solo homer to account for the only run for the Orioles, who have lost three of their last four. Ubaldo Jimenez (3-3) gave up a pair of runs on seven hits and struck out six in seven innings on the hill.

The Angels hadn't moved a runner past second and trailed by a run going into the seventh, but went on top in the frame.

Erick Aybar led off with a single and Johnny Giavotella followed with a base hit. The next two batters recorded outs, but Iannetta and Krauss brought in a run each with singles for a 2-1 lead.

Trout led off the eighth with his 10th home run of the season, and the Angels padded their lead further in the ninth.

David Freese led off the frame with his sixth home run of the year, and a wild pitch from Zach Britton with runners on the corners scored another. Trout singled in a run for a 6-1 lead.

Angels pitchers retired the final 16 batters they faced.

Pearce homered with two outs in the fourth to account for the Orioles' only run.

Pearce had two of the three hits for the Orioles ... Garrett Richards will take the mound for the Angels on Sunday, while the Orioles have yet to announce a starter ... The start of the game was delayed close to an hour due to rain.
