Hechavarria's 10th-inning homer lifts Marlins over Rockies

Jun 8, 2015 - 1:01 AM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Adeiny Hechavarria's two-out homer in the top of the 10th gave the Miami Marlins a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies in the rubber match of a three-game series.

Hechavarria drove a slider from reliever Boone Logan (0-2) into the trees in straightaway center field. It was Hechavarria's first homer since April 25.

Miami starter Jose Urena gave up one run on three hits over six innings. Sam Dyson (3-2) tossed a scoreless ninth and A.J. Ramos pitched a perfect 10th for his seventh save.

Colorado starter Kyle Kendrick was also effective, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings.

"We've been inconsistent at home," said Rockies manager Walt Weiss. "We need to play a lot better at home."

The Marlins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Dee Gordon and Martin Prado started things with back-to-back singles, and both runners scored on Marcell Ozuna's two-out single.

"Everybody is contributing," said Prado. "Everybody is doing their part."

Colorado got on the board in the fourth. Charlie Blackmon and Troy Tulowitzki singled before Carlos Gonzalez walked to load the bases with one out. Nolan Arenado followed with a sacrifice fly.

Gonzalez led off the seventh with a homer off Carter Capps. The Rockies had a chance for more after Arenado walked and Wilin Rosario was hit by a pitch. Arenado was originally called safe at third on Nick Hundley's sacrifice bunt, but the call was overturned following a challenge. Brandon Barnes struck out swinging and pinch-hitter Rafael Ynoa struck out looking to keep it 2-2.
