Realmuto, Marlins down Rockies

Jun 13, 2015 - 3:36 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - J.T. Realmuto hit a three-run home run to lead the Miami Marlins in a 5-1 win over the Colorado Rockies in the second of a four-game set.

Martin Prado hit a solo home run and Marcell Ozuna drove in a run for the Marlins, who have won the first two games of this set after getting swept by Toronto in three games. Jose Urena (1-2) picked up the first win of his career after giving up just one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Carlos Gonzalez hit a solo home run for the Rockies, who have lost their last three games. Kyle Kendrick (2-8) got the loss despite a solid outing in which he gave up just two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.

"We hit the ball on the ground a lot... had a hard time stringing any hits together," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

Miami scored a run in the fourth as Christian Yelich singled with one out and stole second after Giancarlo Stanton lined out. Ozuna appeared to hit a home run that just stayed fair of the left-field foul pole, but an umpire review determined the ball was foul. Ozuna, though, roped a single to center for a 1-0 lead.

Prado led off the sixth with his fourth home run of the season for a 2-0 lead.

Corey Dickerson's two-out double in the second was the only time Colorado had a baserunner at second until the seventh inning when Gonzalez belted his seventh home run of the season to cut the score in half.

Miami, though, put the game away in the eighth as Stanton and Justin Bour drew walks, and Realmuto blasted his third homer of the season for a 5-1 lead.

"A tremendous at-bat to battle, fight off some pitches like he did and get that head out and hit that ball out," Marlins manager Dan Jennings said of Realmuto's homer.

Game Notes

Ozuna has a 13-game hitting streak during which he is batting 18-for-49 ... Kendrick is 14-4 over 28 games against the Marlins in his career.
