Report: Orioles agree with IF Huff on three-year contract

Dec 30, 2006 - 11:43 PM BALTIMORE (Ticker) - Aubrey Huff has loved facing the Baltimore Orioles. Now he apparently will join them.

Citing several industry sources, the Baltimore Sun reported Saturday that the veteran infielder has agreed to a three-year contract with the Orioles.

According to the report, Huff's deal is worth $20 million.

Huff, 30, split last season between Tampa Bay and Houston, batting .266 with 21 homers and 66 RBI in 131 games.

Huff, who has the ability to play both corner infield positions, has more home runs (20) and RBI (63) against the Orioles than any other team.

Last season, the Orioles used Melvin Mora at third base and Kevin Millar saw a majority of time at first base.

Huff enjoyed his best season in 2003 for the Devil Rays, batting .311 with career highs of 34 homers and 107 RBI in 157 games.

In 867 career games, Huff is a .285 hitter with 141 homers and 457 RBI.
