Braves RHP Hudson named NL Player of the Week

Apr 16, 2007 - 9:36 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - After allowing just one earned run in 14 innings, Atlanta Braves righthander Tim Hudson was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.

Hudson pitched seven scoreless innings in a win against Washington last Tuesday and yielded one earned run in another win on Sunday against Florida. He struck out 11 and allowed nine hits in the two starts.

Hudson beat out teammates Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones and lefthander Chuck James for the award.

Among others considered were Jimmy Rollins and Aaron Rowand of Philadelphia, Carlos Lee of Houston, Rickie Weeks of Milwaukee and righthander Braden Looper of St. Louis.
